Solace Women’s Aid exists to bring to an end the harm done through domestic and sexual violence to all survivors and in particular women and children. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives free from abuse.

Solace is currently looking to recruit an experienced and competent Family Support Worker for the Haringey refuges to work with children, young people and their Mothers, whilst residing in emergency temporary accommodation.

The role requires a good understanding of the impacts of domestic and sexual abuse on children, young people and their parents, and how this trauma may affect their development and relationships. You should have excellent knowledge of safeguarding and CAF processes, a good working knowledge of the support available through Social Care Services, and other support options available to children, young people and their families. You will be arranging play sessions, planning holiday play schemes and supervise any volunteers.

Experience of assessing need, one to one support planning and working with vulnerable children and young people is essential. You will carry out risk and needs assessments, develop support plans and carry out key work with children. You should have a demonstrable experience of working with this or a similar client group. An in depth understanding of the needs of women and children from a diverse background is essential.

You will be on Solace’s salary band 3.

Qualified applicants (with an accredited VAWG /domestic abuse qualification) dependent on experience: £23,500 – £26,000 per annum

Unqualified applicants, dependent on experience: £22,000- £23,000 per annum with the potential to gain a qualification and move to the qualified band.

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week

CONTRACT: Permanent
