Innovative specialist project for women experiencing domestic abuse in Southwark and Enfield

Job Reference No. SWA2629

Specialist Advocate: two posts, full-time (Southwark, Enfield)

This exciting new partnership aims to work with women and children who are experiencing domestic abuse and find it hard to engage with existing support services, which increases their vulnerability and risk. Using learning from the “My Sisters Place” project developed in Middlesbrough, we will offer women bespoke dedicated support which places a high emphasis on addressing their multiple needs. The project will also offer therapeutic support for children to ensure the effects of witnessing abuse are addressed and its long lasting effects minimised.

Solace Women’s Aid is delighted to be partnering with Southwark Children’s Services, Enfield MARAC and Women’s Aid for this innovative project, funded by the Transformation Fund at the Home Office. We are looking for experienced, dynamic Specialist Advocates to join our advocacy and support teams in Enfield and Southwark (one advocate in each locality).

You will be adept at risk and needs assessment and support planning and will be expected to work intensively with service users as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with external agencies.

You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the intersection between domestic abuse and multiple/complex needs, a strong understanding of how this can make it difficult for women to engage with support and an ability to reflect on your own practice.

SALARY: £26,000 – £28,500 per annum, dependent on relevant qualifications and experience

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week
