Specialist Advocate

Innovative specialist project for women experiencing domestic abuse in Southwark

Job Reference No. SWA2656

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic Senior Specialist Advocate to join our Advocacy and Support Team in Southwark as part of an exciting new partnership project with Children’s Social Care.

This exciting new partnership aims to work with women and children who are experiencing domestic abuse and finding it hard to engage with existing support services. Using learning from the “My Sisters Place” project developed in Middlesbrough, we will offer women bespoke dedicated support which places high emphasis on addressing their multiple needs. The project will also offer therapeutic support for children to ensure the effects of witnessing abuse are addressed and its long lasting effects minimised.

As the Senior Advocate you will take the lead on building the partnership with Social Care and ensuring the day to day smooth running of the project including line management of the Specialist Advocate and Children’s Therapists. The ideal candidate will have experience of working intensively with service users as part of a multidisciplinary team, be adept at risk and needs assessment and support planning, and have previous experience of line managing staff or volunteers.

You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the intersection between domestic abuse and multiple/complex needs, a strong understanding of how this can make it difficult for women to engage with support, and an ability to reflect on your own practice.
