What is Payroll Giving?

Payroll Giving is a scheme that enables your staff to give to any charity straight from their gross salary (before tax is deducted), and to receive immediate tax relief of up to £5 for every £10 donated.

How do I sign up?

To set up a Payroll Giving scheme, all you have to do is sign up with a Payroll Giving Agency who will transfer the donations to Solace Women’s Aid on your behalf – it’s as easy as that.

How can your company benefit?

Payroll Giving has numerous benefits for your business, including financial, aiding staff retention and improving CSR, especially if you chose to match fund staff donations through Payroll Giving.

By running regular promotions about your Payroll Giving scheme to maintain awareness and continuing to recruit new donors, you could be eligible for an Award.

What do my employees need to do?

All your employees need to do is ask your payroll department to deduct regular charitable donations from their salary by filling out a simple application form, outlining how much they would like to give and to which charities.

For individuals

Giving to Solace Women’s Aid through your payroll is tax effective in that you donate directly from your pay before the tax is deducted.

This makes your donation worth more to the charity than you lose through your pay, and provides us with a regular income each month. For example, if you are a standard rate taxpayer (20%), the immediate tax relief means that a donation of £10 will cost you just £8, and if you are a higher rate tax-payer you will save even more.

It’s easy to do. Just ask your employer if they are already set up for Payroll Giving, and if not they can just register with any of the Payroll Giving agencies authorised by HMRC and they’ll let them know how to deduct your donations and pay them to Solace Women’s Aid.

Your employer may match fund your donations too, doubling the value of your donations each month – so it’s worth asking them if they can do this.

Please email fundraising@solacewomensaid.org if you have any queries or to let us know you are making donations to Solace Women’s Aid through your payroll.

Thank you for all your support.
