Solace Women’s Aid exists to bring to an end the harm done through domestic and sexual violence to all survivors and in particular women and children. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives free from abuse.
Children and Young People Sessional Workers plan and facilitate activities and play sessions for children and young people aged 0-16 year’s old living in refuges, ensure Health & Safety standards, and support evaluation & monitoring of children’s learning. You will support families to contribute to planning activities as well as supporting mothers to develop their relationship with their children through play and other activities.
We are looking for workers with experience of working with babies, children and young people in a child care setting along with a qualification at NVQ Level 2 or higher in Child Development, youth and Community Work or similar. Experience of working with children and young people who have experienced trauma is desirable. You will support families to continue their learning whilst in refuge and help them develop the skills to continue this work for themselves when they leave refuge.
Hours will be negotiable but will include late afternoons and some occasional weekend hours to meet the needs of children and young people in refuge and you will usually work hours over 3 or 4 days.
