Zoe’s story, Team Solace

runner going up stairs

I joined Team Solace last year to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon.

Years ago, I tried to escape an abusive relationship.  After being rejected by a variety of services, I was accepted into one of Solace’s refuges.

I had no confidence or self-esteem. I had been coerced and manipulated. I thought I deserved it.

For the first time, at Solace, I felt safe, like I had a home. Everyone I saw had control over their future, they were empowered to make their own decisions.

I gained a huge amount of confidence, part of that was finding my freedom through running. It has been amazing to give back to them as Team Solace.

– Zoe, Royal Parks Runner, raised over £350 for Solace
