Creating Safe Festivities and Holidays

At our 22 refuges we do all we can to make sure that celebrating Christmas and the festive season is a happy time for women and children who have escaped from an abuser.

But we can’t do it without your help.

Here are five inspired gifts you can give this Christmas that will make a world of difference to those who have fled abuse as they rebuild their life for them and their children.

1. The Gift of Belonging

This December we expect to welcome close to 600 women and children into our services.

Resources for welcome packs are always in demand in our refuges and community services – we would be grateful to receive welcome packs.*

A donation of £10,500 could provide welcome packs to all women accessing our services this December.

2. The Gift of Childhood

We currently have 211 children living in refuges all who need winter shoes!

Books, toys, educational materials and school supplies* are always warmly received by mums and children.

£60 per child will provide everything they need for the school year, we currently have 110 children of school age in safe accommodation.

A donation of £4,000 could provide new winter shoes for all the children we support.

3. The Gift of Dignity

A mix of sanitary products and a variety of warm clothes in a range of sizes will be gratefully accepted. Culturally diverse books are always in high demand!

A donation of £1,700 would provide extensive dental assistance for the women who need it the most.

A donation of £2,400 could provide long awaited and highly desired haircuts for the 160 women living in refuge.

4. The Gift of Healing

You could give resources to support the mental health of those affected by abuse.

We would welcome wellbeing resources such as yoga mats, meditation and self-care books, journaling materials, and skin care products.

A donation of £500 could provide resources for our Family Support Workers who work with children who have experienced trauma.

5. The Gift of A Safe Life and Strong Future

You could help provide coaching and counselling to empower someone to change the course of their life – and their children’s – free from abuse.

A donation of £5,000 could provide six-months of regular counselling sessions for a woman who is rebuilding her life after abuse.

On behalf of the 30,000 women and children we help each year, thank you for celebrating with us and giving a gift this Christmas.
