Solace event celebrates International Women’s Day – and introduces its first patron

Solace marked International Women’s Day with event that celebrated women’s voices and announces first patron Simrin Choudhrie.

Solace Women’s Aid marked International Women’s Day with an event that celebrated survivors, the women who worked on the front line supporting them, and the supporters who volunteered their time to raise funds for Solace’s lifesaving work.

Supporters, ambassadors, key individuals and staff all joined forces for the celebration, which took place at the Curzon, Bloomsbury on Monday 9th March 2020, and was opened by Simrin Choudhrie – her first official task as Solace’s Patron.

She delivered a heartfelt introduction, saying: “As a mother, I am passionate about the well-being of children and young people. As a woman, I care deeply about vulnerable women who have been subjected to trafficking and sexual exploitation, and I am committed to helping them rebuild their lives and overcome the trauma and harm they have been subjected to.

I believe that working with Solace gives me the opportunity to play a fundamental part in driving change to the lives of underprivileged women and children.  I am delighted to support Solace Women’s Aid, to speak out on the issues that affect all women and children, and to get involved in driving forward the education and therapeutic services that will not only make a real difference, but will also influence policy makers to fully fund these lifesaving services.”

Solace CEO said: “The event marks the start of an exciting phase for Solace. We will be supporting thousands more children and young people during the forthcoming year, thanks to Simrin, who through the Alara Foundation is helping to scale up our support to the most vulnerable children and young people in London.”
