Statement on resolution in Solace’s Tower Hamlets team dispute

Nahar Choudhury, CEO of Solace “We are pleased that a resolution has been found which means that the planned industrial action by Solace’s Tower Hamlets team has been called off. The ending of the dispute is in the interest of survivors in Tower Hamlets and our doors remain open to supporting them.”

“Following discussions between Solace and Tower Hamlets, external funding has been provided to Solace which means that the redundancy process has been withdrawn and our Tower Hamlets team can continue to focus their efforts on supporting survivors.”

“The redundancies that were proposed earlier this year was not a decision Solace took lightly and only did so due to the continuing challenges for specialist domestic abuse services and a reduction in external funding for our Tower Hamlets service.”

“At Solace we continue to want to work with funders towards a common purpose to ensure there are resources to support survivors of VAWG, and Solace can continue to provide our high quality services.”

“Survivors in Tower Hamlets and across London can continue to seek help from Solace via our advice line on 0808 802 5565 or advice@solacewomensaid.org.”
