Solace Advocacy and Support Service (SASS)

This vacancy has arisen in a busy and exciting office that provides specialist independent domestic and sexual violence services. This includes a package of support covering crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning. A key aspect of the role will be to advocate on behalf of service users pursuing remedies through the criminal and civil justice systems.

The IDVA will work specifically with high risk clients, whose cases are referred to the MARAC.

Successful applicants will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and their children, as well as experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic and sexual violence and strong casework management skills.

If you have experience of working with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence and a working knowledge of the criminal and civil justice systems this is a unique opportunity to develop further your skills and career.

Applicants are required to have CAADA’s IDVA or DAPA qualification, or be willing to go on the training to acquire it.

Camden Holistic Therapeutic Service

We are therefore looking to expand our team, widening the range of services provided for women, children and men, enabling them to live lives free from domestic and sexual violence. We are looking to recruit to the following posts

Team Manager
The post holder will

  • Provide a culturally sensitive and supportive service for women, children and men affected by domestic abuse
  • Oversee the delivery of the service including one-to-one counselling for women + men and the Children’s Therapeutic Service
  • Deliver a multi-strand Groupwork Programme for women only

You will have project and people management experience together with experience of supporting women and/or children affected by domestic violence; demonstrable experience of working with women in groups is also essential.   You will have excellent communication skills.

Salary: £32,000 pa

Team Manager Job Description + Person Spec

Caseworker

We are also seeking to employ a Caseworker to

Children’s Therapist

Our Children’s Therapist will provide specialist one-to-one and group interventions for children and young people (and their parent/carer) affected by domestic abuse.

You will be a Qualified Therapist with the British Association of Art Therapists or the British Association of Drama Therapists; in addition we would expect you to have a Health and Care Professions Council Qualification and Registration or equivalent.

Salary:  £16,500 pa

Hours:  22.5 per week

Children’s Therapist JD + PS

Self-Employed Female Counsellor (one-to-one work with women)

The post-holder will provide a high quality one to one counselling service for women aged 16+ affected by domestic and/or sexual violence.

You will be qualified to Diploma Level with experience post-qualification providing one-to-one counselling. In addition you will be BACP accredited or in the process of becoming accredited.

Solace Women’s Aid will cover Clinical Supervision, telephone + counselling space costs.

Salary:  £130 per 7.5 hour day

Hours:  15 per week

Female Counsellor JD + PS

Self-Employed Male Counsellor (one-to-one work with men)

The post-holder will provide a high quality one to one counselling service for men aged 16+ affected by domestic and/or sexual violence.

We are now recruiting for an experienced Family Support Worker to support children and families at our two refuges in Islington.

The ideal candidate will have experience of direct work with children and families in a social care setting (e.g.  Play, education or community settings and an in depth understanding of domestic abuse, and its impact on children. You will also be able to communicate with children and young people and be committed to providing a child focused service, to children from diverse backgrounds.

SALARY: £22,000- £26,000 per annum

HOURS: 37.5 per week

Solace Women’s Aid Trustee Recruitment

Solace Women’s Aid is a London based charity working primarily with women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence. The organisation has grown significantly over the last few years and we are keen to recruit talented members to join our active and committed Board of Trustees.

Candidates will be strategic thinkers and at this particular time we are looking to attract applications from those who can demonstrate specific expertise in accounting (either a qualified accountant or qualified by experience). Knowledge of charity SORP would be an advantage. We particularly welcome applications from Black and Minority Ethnic Women as they are currently under-represented in our trustee membership.

Successful candidates will be required to attend 4 board meetings and two away days each year as well as participate on a board sub-committee. Trustees can claim reasonable out-of-pocket and travel expenses but are not otherwise remunerated.
