Solace Women’s Aid is an independent charity working across London, providing life-saving support to women and children survivors of domestic and sexual violence.  We provide advocacy and advice services, counselling, specialist services and family and children’s services amongst others.

This vacancy has arisen in a busy and exciting office that provides specialist independent domestic and sexual violence services. This includes a package of support covering crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning. The IDVA will provide advocacy and support to women experiencing domestic abuse who present with complex needs such as mental health issues and/or problematic substance use and other issues.

Successful applicants will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on service users and their children, experience of working with women who present with complex needs and strong casework management skills.

Applicants are required to have Safe Lives IDVA or DAPA qualification.

Hours: Full Time (37.5)

Salary:  £24,000 -27,500 depending on experience and qualifications

Independent Domestic Violence Advocacy Service – Waltham Forest

This vacancy has arisen in a busy and exciting office that provides specialist independent domestic and sexual violence services. This includes a package of support covering crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning. The IDVA will work specifically with high risk clients, whose cases are referred to the MARAC.

Successful applicants will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on service users and their children, as well as experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic and sexual violence and strong casework management skills.

If you have experience of working with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence and a working knowledge of working with Harmful Practices cases, this is a unique opportunity to develop further your skills and career.

Applicants are required to have CAADA’s IDVA or DAPA qualification, or be willing to go on the training to acquire it.

Family Support Worker

We are now recruiting for an experienced Family Support Worker to support children and families at our two refuges in Islington.

The ideal candidate will have experience of direct work with children and families in a social care setting (e.g.  Play, education or community settings and an in depth understanding of domestic abuse, and its impact on children. You will also be able to communicate with children and young people and be committed to providing a child focused service, to children from diverse backgrounds.

SALARY: £22,000- £26,000 per annum

HOURS: 37.5 per week

  •  Ensuring we are able to accurately report on the work we do externally to funders, and internally to the Board and Management team
  • Reviewing, developing, implementing and maintaining systems and processes to meet current and new reporting needs

Solace Women’s Aid Trustee Recruitment

Solace Women’s Aid is a London based charity working primarily with women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence. The organisation has grown significantly over the last few years and we are keen to recruit talented members to join our active and committed Board of Trustees.

Candidates will be strategic thinkers and at this particular time we are looking to attract applications from those who can demonstrate specific expertise in accounting (either a qualified accountant or qualified by experience). Knowledge of charity SORP would be an advantage. We particularly welcome applications from Black and Minority Ethnic Women as they are currently under-represented in our trustee membership.

Successful candidates will be required to attend 4 board meetings and two away days each year as well as participate on a board sub-committee. Trustees can claim reasonable out-of-pocket and travel expenses but are not otherwise remunerated.

Volunteering for Solace can be immensely challenging and very rewarding and can provide an opportunity for you to learn new skills and develop existing ones whilst supporting vulnerable women and children in the capital who have experienced domestic or sexual violence.
