Volunteer Refuge Support Worker

The Volunteer Refuge Support Worker will support refuge staff with the day-to-day running of the service, providing practical and emotional support to women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence. We are looking for a reliable, confident, and organised volunteer who is passionate about supporting women and families affected by domestic abuse. This role will work alongside our Refuge Case Worker team within a refuge setting, helping to create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where residents feel respected, empowered, and able to rebuild their lives.

The role involves assisting service users to access local services, accompanying them to appointments, supporting group activities, and carrying out basic administrative and health and safety tasks. Volunteers will work as part of a trauma-informed, feminist organisation within the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone considering a future career in domestic abuse support, family support, housing, social care, safeguarding, community services, or other trauma-informed support roles. Through this role, you will develop practical skills and experience while making a meaningful difference to the lives of women and children on their journey towards safety and independence.
